Scroll’s Implementation of Attestations
Attestations are used as Badges.

Scroll’s Badges, which are based on attestations, enable users to create onchain footprints and identities. In contrast to the opaque, centralized credentialing systems, #BadgeOnScroll ensures that all interactions with various project attestation issuers are transparently logged on the blockchain, facilitating easy verification.

The Badges are then displayed on Scroll Canvas.

Scroll Canvas serves as a unique and non-transferable profile registry where users can display these Badges, showcasing on-chain credentials, statuses, and achievements within the Scroll ecosystem. Each Canvas is a smart contract, minted via the ProfileRegistry contract on Scroll’s platform. The Badges themselves are verified through the Ethereum Attestation Service and can be issued by various projects as well as the Scroll Foundation itself.

Badges are dynamic image links, not NFTs.

These Badges are designed to facilitate interactions within the ecosystem, allowing projects to recognize user achievements and offer tailored services to badge holders, thus driving engagement and personalization across the Scroll universe. Each badge, which includes a dynamic image link (not an NFT), is wallet-bound and non-transferrable, ensuring the authenticity and the personal connection of the achievements they represent.
